Q: What is the best way to find what positions are open?A: Open positions are listed and updated in the Careers section of the website. Please refer to it for more details.
Q: When can I expect to hear back from Caramel Tech?
A: We appreciate your interest and generally get back to (only) the shortlisted candidates for the open positions within a two week period of their date of application. However, because we receive a substantial amount of applications, reviewing them usually takes a little longer than expected. You are welcome to apply again if you haven't heard from us in a while.
Q: What possibilities are there for students?
A: At the moment we are not running an internship program. However, we do intend on starting one in the near future and as soon as something materializes, we will announce it through our Facebook page, Twitter account and on the Careers section of the website.
Q: What documents should I include in my application?
A: You must send in your CV and your college CGPA & SGPA. For artists, a portfolio is mandatory. Transcripts, a coding sample or any other item would only strengthen your application. Generally, please submit all documents in English. Although a Cover Letter is optional, if you feel the need to elaborate further, we strongly recommend attaching it to the application. Please note incomplete applications will NOT be processed.
Q: I applied a month ago and still haven't heard anything?
A: Since we receive a considerable amount of applications, we dedicate a significant amount of time to shortlisting candidates based on their profiles. All shortlisted candidates who fit the bill will be invited for an interview.
Q: What is Caramel Tech's criteria for shortlisting?
A: We do not disclose the selection criteria. However general criterion includes stellar academic record, contribution to the OpenSource community, high code ethics, etc. For artists, great aesthetic sense, color & shade selection, brilliant sketching skills, etc.
Interview-specific FAQ
Q: What should I wear for the interview?
A: Caramel Tech is a creative and casual environment. We expect the candidates to be dressed casually and not suited up. However, please keep in mind that your first impression is very important.
Q: What can I do to prepare for my interview?
A: You should have definitely played lots of casual games on smart phones or Facebook! Additionally, navigate through our website and get acquainted with not only us, but also the mobile & social gaming industry in general. Be prepared to answer problem solving and algorithm questions. In the interviews you will also be asked to think out loud - so if you are not used to that, we recommend you practice beforehand.
Q: Who will I be interviewed by at Caramel Tech?
A: For each department the respective person at Caramel Tech will take a technical interview. Depending on what position you are applying for, the amount of interviews varies quite a bit.
Q: How long will the interview take?
A: We will discuss this with you on your interview day, as it depends on the position. You should expect up to 3-4 individual interviews, which usually take 30 minutes each. Between the interviews you will have short breaks.
Q: What if I need to change my interview date?
A: After your interview date is confirmed, we prefer not to change the time schedule unless there is an emergency. If you must reschedule, please contact us via email as soon as possible and we will try to find a solution. Please clearly write "Request for Interview Date Change" in the subject field.
Q: What are the next steps after the interview?
A: After the last interview we will inform you of the next steps.
Receiving an offer
Q: If I receive an offer, how long will I have to make a decision?
A: We will determine a reasonable time frame once we have sent out the offer.
Q: How does the on-boarding process work?
A: We will make it a point to make you feel welcome. You will initially have a few starter sessions with members of the senior staff so we can get you up-to-speed with what we're working on. Also, you will have a personal Mentor. And of course we will provide the equipment and facilities necessary for your work.
Q: Will I have opportunities for training and development after I am hired?
A: Definitely. Continuous learning, both formal and informal, is a key component of each employee's career development at Caramel Tech. We will discuss these opportunities further once you have officially been brought on board.
Q: What about relocation?
A: We will offer ways to make your relocation smooth and stress-free. We will also assist you with any visa-related issues you may have. We will help you find housing and get acquainted with the city.
